Crews have installed a tall tower crane at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for construction of the new Encanto ride in the Tropical Americas land.

A parking lot filled with cars, with large construction cranes and trees in the background under a blue sky.

The tower crane is a more permanent piece of equipment than the mobile cranes also on site. It’s visible from the Animal Kingdom parking lot. We saw the first sign of this crane last week.

A construction crane rises behind trees; a worker directs cars in an empty lot lined with cones and "Do Not Enter" signs.

It’s in the former Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama site. The area closed permanently in January — the first phase of DinoLand closures. A brand-new Encanto attraction will be constructed in the space.

The Boneyard closed permanently this month and has been demolished. It will be replaced by a new play area. The Tropical Americas land will include the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza, where guests can ride a wood-carved carousel of Disney Animals.

In addition to the carousel and Encanto attraction, DINOSAUR will become an Indiana Jones ride. DINOSAUR will close permanently early next year, marking the extinction of DinoLand U.S.A.
