Disney announced the revival special of The Muppet Show starring Sabrina Carpenter will premiere on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026.
The Muppet Show Special
The special was announced in September. Though it’s only a single special, it could serve as a backdoor pilot for a full revival of The Muppet Show. Its 2026 premiere coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original series created by Jim Henson, which ran from 1976 to 1981. The new special follows “Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the gang as they return to the Muppet Theatre to produce a variety show.”

Veteran Muppet performers returning include Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel.
It’s directed by Alex Timbers and executive produced by Carpenter, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Vogel, Jacobson, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Albertina Rizzo, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee.
Ahead of the release date announcement, Miss Piggy was “arrested” at a Sabrina Carpenter concert.
