Five More Stardust Racers Lawsuits Filed Against Universal

Five more lawsuits have recently been filed against Universal and Mack Rides, the company responsible for designing and creating Stardust Racers at Epic Universe.

Lawsuits

Universal’s “Stardust Racers” sign shines in a lush park as fans await its reopening date and thrilling coaster tracks.

Each of the five lawsuits claim individuals suffered injuries after riding the attraction. They also allege negligence in the ride’s design, operation, maintenance, and control.

Each plaintiff in the lawsuits claim that their heads shook violently and repeatedly while riding. They allege this is due to improper restraint of their head, neck, and spine, resulting in severe and permanent injuries.

As a result, the lawsuits include the following injuries: severe neck pain, paralysis, disability, mental anguish, and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life.

Attorney Nicholas Spetsas filed all lawsuits and said his clients hope their actions will spark change. Additionally, he anticipates more lawsuits in the future.

These new lawsuits come on the heels of the family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala and Universal reaching an “amicable resolution.” Zavala was found unresponsive and later died after riding Stardust Racers in Epic Universe in September.

The final report stated that no criminal acts occurred in the death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala after he was found unconscious on the roller coaster at Epic Universe earlier this year.

Another woman also sued Universal in September, who was also represented by Spetsas. The complaint sought $50,000 from the incident and was quickly settled.
