Industry Experts Favor Josh D’Amaro as Next Disney CEO

A new poll conducted by Bloomberg asked over 700 industry experts who should be the next CEO of The Walt Disney Company. In this poll, Josh D’Amaro came out as the clear winner.

In the year-end poll taken by Bloomberg, over 700 industry experts were asked several big questions about the future of entertainment companies, like who will buy Warner Bros. (the experts claim Netflix), and what part of that deal gives the most cause for concern (the CNN reform won).

As to the question of who would be the next CEO of The Walt Disney Company, D’Amaro was the winner with just short of 30% of the votes. Dana Walden was next, with 22.5%. It’s interesting to note Bob Iger was the third choice with nearly 18% of the votes thinking he will continue in his role as CEO by the year 2027. Last time this poll was taken, Dana Walden was the winner.

Other options included Co-CEOs (15.3%), an outsider (8.8%) or another Disney candidate (5.5%). Bob Chapek, former CEO, was not an option.

Whoever is chosen as CEO is expected to work alongside Iger for a period of time before fully taking over. The board’s top priority is to cause as little drama as possible with no major exits after the decision is made. They have held contract extension talks with other executives who report to Iger and some will likely be offered expanded roles and new titles to ensure they stay.

The Walt Disney Company has stated it hopes to make a CEO announcement in early 2026. Dana Walden has recently made a statement about the race, while the Wall Street Journal has favored Josh D’Amaro. Bob Iger has expressed his troubles about deciding who should be next to handle the role.
