Rizzo the Rat and Bean Bunny have returned in two videos posted by The Muppets on Christmas Eve across multiple accounts.
Rizzo the Rat and Bean Bunny are Back
‘Tis the season to light the lamp, not the rat! Merry Christmas from Miss Piggy, Rizzo, and all The Muppets. #TheMuppets70
On the official Muppets Instagram account, Rizzo the Rat — making his first appearance in several years — and Miss Piggy share an important holiday message: “Light the lamp, not the rat!” This, of course, is a reference to a beloved scene in the classic The Muppet Christmas Carol in which Charles Dickens (played by The Great Gonzo) sets Rizzo’s tail on fire while lighting a streetlamp. It has become a popular seasonal meme on social media.
The Disney+ Instagram account actually posted the scene as a Reel yesterday for its Christmas Eve post:
Always remember: light the lamp, not the rat.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is streaming on Disney+.
Meanwhile, Bean Bunny surprisingly popped up on the Disney Vacation Club Instagram, also alongside Miss Piggy:
#ThatMagicalFeeling when @realmisspiggy, Bean Bunny and our friends at @themuppets studio send season’s greetings to DVC Members! ❄️

The Muppets in the Parks and Beyond

While Muppet Vision 3D is no more at Hollywood Studios, The Muppets will still have a presence in the park as they’re set to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Summer 2026; Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit last week to begin installing Muppet set pieces in the attraction.

Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Kermit and Miss Piggy have appeared live during Disney Holidays in Hollywood, a stage show exclusive to Disney Jollywood Nights. Some replica carpet from the Muppet Vision 3D attraction also appeared in a holiday photo op.

Disney announced the revival special of The Muppet Show starring Sabrina Carpenter will premiere on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026. Its 2026 premiere coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original series created by Jim Henson, which ran from 1976 to 1981.
