Orlando International Airport Expects Record-Breaking 3 Million+ Travelers During Holidays

For the travel period of Friday, December 19 through Monday, January 5, Orlando International Airport predicts a 2.6% increase in overall traveler traffic.

Saturday, January 3 will be the busiest day. About 196,212 passengers will arrive and depart MCO after Christmas and New Year’s Day. Sunday, January 4 is the second busiest day with 195,960 passengers.

MCO suggests travelers arrive three hours before their flight to allow time for parking, ticketing, and security, aiming to arrive at their gate one hour before boarding. The Reserved Parking feature in the Orlando MCO app allows you to reserve a space ahead of time so you don’t have to search for a spot. Passengers without TSA PreCheck or CLEAR+ can book a time to go through airport security using the MCO Reserve service.

The TSA recommends not wrapping gifts before traveling. TSA officers will open wrapped packages for inspection. Also, avoid tying ribbons or scarves to checked luggage because they can get caught in the automated baggage handling system.

Cell Phone lots are available at MCO for guests waiting to pick someone up. The lots have restrooms and free Wi-Fi. Be mindful of construction activity near Gates 100-129 (Avelo and Southwest) as part of the airport’s multi-year Gate Link Replacement project.

Visitors may apply for access to post-security areas in Terminals A, B, and C with the Experience MCO Visitor Pass Program.
