The construction site for Piston Peak and Villains Land at Magic Kingdom continues to be cleared out to make way for the new themed lands. We were able to see the progress from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Piston Peak & Villains Land Construction

Construction walls run all the way around the former river, but guests can see the demolition/construction zone from certain vantage points. The trees visible in the back of these pictures are all at the back edge of Magic Kingdom.

The Walt Disney World Railroad tracks used to go through these forests, but the railroad track in this area has been removed, according to the aerial photography we previously reported on. Not much has changed since our last update, with large amounts of prep work being conducted in both areas.

The area meant for Piston Peak appears to have been completely cleared, with several pieces of machinery visible in the pictures. We also recently got a view of this progress from the sky with large piles of dirt and rubble.

The work stretches from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to the Haunted Mansion and beyond.

Recently, totem poles along the former banks of the Rivers of America were removed. An exhibit was recently installed at Walt Disney Presents featuring some artwork for Piston Peak.
Future Lands

The Cars area will be called Piston Peak National Park, inspired by real-life national parks, particularly the Rocky Mountains. Sightlines will be maintained with architecture gradually becoming “Car-itecture” within the Cars-themed space.
Not much information has been released about the Disney Villains Land, but we know it will have two major attractions, shopping, and dining. Disney animator Andreas Deja is consulting on the project.
