Tokyo Disney Resort is recalling all the Pocky sold in recent months due to an error with the popular chocolate candy. Pocky parent company Glico announced their own voluntary recall of the products earlier this month.
Pocky Recall
There’s nothing exactly wrong with the Pocky, as described by Japan Today. Following reports of odd flavors, Glico conducted an investigation and determined the recently-used cocoa beans were stored for eight months near aromatic spices. It’s not the timeline that’s the problem — the chocolate was not expired — but the proximity to the spices, which has accidentally changed the flavor of the classic Japanese snack.
Oriental Land Company, owners of Tokyo Disney Resort, said in a statement, “Please note that while the products in question may have a spice-based flavor not normally found in chocolate products, they are safe to consume as is. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our guests.” (via Yahoo! Japan, translated from Japanese to English)
They are linking customers to a form for requesting a refund for their Pocky products. “We will arrange for the recalled products to be collected at a later date, and will send you a refund equivalent to the product price,” OLC stated.
Nearly 30,000 Pocky products sold at Tokyo Disney Resort from October 21 to December 8, 2025, are eligible for recall. One box of the candy retails for 1,500 yen.
Tokyo Disney Resort began selling Mickey Mouse Pocky in 2021 and has been periodically restocked in the years since.
