Zootopia 2 has officially become Disney’s highest-grossing animated film of all time, surpassing previous title holder Frozen 2.

Zootopia 2 Now Disney’s Most Successful Animated Film

With a global box office take of $1.46 billion, Zootopia 2 has become Disney’s most successful animated film of all time, as reported by Variety. The previous record holder was Frozen 2, which grossed $1.45 billion upon its release in 2019. It’s also the second film to earn over $1 billion at the box office in 2025, with the first also being a Disney film: the live-action Lilo & Stitch.

Zootopia 2’s success is largely due to its global performance, especially in China, where it has already earned over $500 million alone.

Shanghai Disneyland started Zootopia 2 promotions in January 2025 by having Gary De’Snake be the official character for the Year of the Snake, even though the film was still 11 months out from release.

Additionally, Zootopia 2 featured a location directly inspired by a spot in Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia Land. Shanghai Disneyland also added Gary De’Snake to the Zootopia Comes Alive puppet show and a temporary Zootopia 2 overlay to the popular Zootopia: Hot Pursuit attraction.
