With a global box office take of $1.46 billion, Zootopia 2 has become Disney’s most successful animated film of all time, as reported by Variety. The previous record holder was Frozen 2, which grossed $1.45 billion upon its release in 2019. It’s also the second film to earn over $1 billion at the box office in 2025, with the first also being a Disney film: the live-action Lilo & Stitch.

Zootopia 2’s success is largely due to its global performance, especially in China, where it has already earned over $500 million alone.

Shanghai Disneyland started Zootopia 2 promotions in January 2025 by having Gary De'Snake be the official character for the Year of the Snake, even though the film was still 11 months out from release.
