Bridges and nets have returned to the Angola colobus monkey habitat on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Scaffolding began to come down from the exhibit in December, but construction walls remain up around the space.
Monkey Habitat Refurbishment
Over the walls, we could see new prop bridges hanging from the supports at the top of the habitat.
On the other side of the habitat, we saw even more bridges, platforms, and rope nets for the monkeys. The entire habitat is enclosed by netting, but these prop nets are perfect for monkey naps.
There are faux wood and bamboo structures for the monkeys to climb on. Most construction materials are gone from view, but we could see some tarps wrapped around props.
The exhibit has been closed since early September. Cast members originally said the refurbishment would last about 4-5 months. A cast member we spoke to on January 8 said it would reopen before the summer.
The monkeys are currently living in a backstage area at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
