Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort announced details of their Chinese New Year celebrations, including appearances by Bullseye from Toy Story, representing the Year of the Horse.

Shanghai Disney Resort will also introduce all-new Chinese New Year outfits for Mickey and Friends, featuring intricate horse motifs, gold ingot designs, and embroidered patterns symbolizing prosperity.

Winnie the Pooh and his friends will don festive red scarves.

Mickey Avenue and Gardens of Imagination will have horse-themed décor. A giant lantern centerpiece will be in Gardens of Imagination. Entertainment will include Mickey Avenue Shanghai Swing and Goofy dressed as the God of Fortune.

Curated Chinese New Year menus will be available at Royal Banquet Hall and Lumière’s Kitchen, along with sweet treats like Mandarin sorbets and Kumquat ice cream.

Exclusive merchandise will feature Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, Bullseye, Winnie the Pooh, and Zootopia characters dressed in festive designs.

Speaking Zootopia, the land will have Easter eggs inspired by equine characters from Zootopia 2, like the Zebros and the mayor Brian Winddancer. Winddancer’s greeting card will be visible in the Zootopia Police Station. New Year puns will appear on window stickers on the streets. The horse mayor’s daily festival speech will also come to life in the land.

Disneytown will offer entertainment and a Spring Festival Market. There will be themed décor at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel.

Chinese New Year at Hong Kong Disneyland

At Hong Kong Disneyland, Chinese New Year will be celebrated from January 30 through March 1. Bullseye will appear for photo ops in Toy Story Land and be represented on the Mickey lantern in Town Square.

Duffy and Friends will don seasonal looks at Duffy and Friends Play House.

Goofy will also be dressed as God of Fortune Goofy.

Starting February 17, the first day of the new year, guests will receive a complimentary Disney-themed lai see — red envelopes gifted during Chinese New Year. The envelope comes with a chocolate coin, and exclusive dining and shopping privileges.

The Disney Chinese New Year Lucky Magic Bag will offer a bundle of collectibles and exclusive items only available in the lucky bag including Kee Wah Bakery Chinese pastry giftbox and a special edition Chinese New Year plush – Gelatoni, StellaLou, or LinaBell – in an all-new horse-themed design.

New Disney Collectible Medallions feature Disney characters celebrating the new year.

Duffy and Friends Sponge Cakes and Passion Fruit & Mango Flavored Twist Soft Serve will be available in the park. There will be seasonal menus at Crystal Lotus and Enchanted Garden Restaurant at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, Dragon Wind at Disney Explorers Lodge, and Ink & Plate at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

The Year of the Horse LinaBell-Themed In-Room Merchandise Package will be available at the hotels. On the first day of the Chinese New Year, guests can enjoy the Lunar New Year Lion Dance Performance. The hotels will also offer range of festive workshops and activities.
