Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! celebrated “20 Years of Scares” and Disneyland Cast Members handed out buttons to commemorate the occasion.
“20 Years of Scares” Buttons

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! opened at Disney California Adventure on January 23, 2026, as a retheme of the much-maligned opening day attraction Superstar Limo, which closed after less than a year of operation.

The Monsters, Inc. version of the attraction, in which guests ride in a Monstropolis taxi following Mike, Sulley, and Boo, has been Hollywood Land’s signature attraction for two decades.

Yesterday, January 23, 2026, Cast Members on the attraction handed out commemorative buttons to guests to mark the milestone. The button art features Roz scowling from behind her desk with a green party hat next to her. The Disney California Adventure logo, a sign reading “20 Years of Scares,” and four scream canisters are in front of her.

The 20th anniversary of the attraction is as exciting as it is bittersweet: Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is set to permanently close in early 2026, although Disney has not announced a more specific date yet. This is because a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area will be transformed into a Pandora – World of Avatar land that will include a boat ride.
