Cinderella Castle Repaint Beginning Imminently at Magic Kingdom

The repainting of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will begin any day now, a new note on the My Disney Experience app and Walt Disney World website indicates.

The pages for Cinderella Castle in the app and on the website now warn guests, “Cinderella Castle is currently undergoing a magical transformation. Learn more about what’s coming soon on the Disney Parks Blog.”

We checked out the castle but didn’t see any signs of construction. There are still Christmas decorations on the back and draining of the moat doesn’t appear to have begun. Still, the online note does mean we could start seeing crews in the area soon.

Cinderella Castle was originally shades of gray with light blue turrets. In 2020 and 2021, it was repainted with a new 50th anniversary color scheme similar featuring royal blue turrets, a a different shade of gray on the lower half, and a pale pink on the top half, plus more gold trims.

Disney announced in summer 2025 that the castle will be restored to its classic colors. They later announced that painting would begin in January 2026 and finish late in the year.

It’s possible Disney will wait until the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is complete to begin work. The marathon weekend is January 7 – 11 and will see guests running through Magic Kingdom in the early morning hours when construction would usually take place.
