DJ and producer Zedd officially takes over Space Fantasy – The Ride at Universal Studios Japan starting on Friday, January 30. Universal Studios Japan provided a first look at the limited-time attraction overlay during a press preview on Thursday.
Space Fantasy – The Ride: CLUB ZEDD REMIX
Zedd experienced the ride during the preview and said:
After actually riding it, I thought it was truly incredible—cool in every way, and it felt like a dream come true. What I focused on most was RIDE THE BEAT, making it a ride that moves with the beat. When the ride climbs, the music builds; when it drops, the beat drops too. Even while racing through darkness, the music guides you so you can feel every movement of the ride. We also wanted guests to enjoy the queue, so we produced an ultimate music experience that feels like a concert or a club.
Zedd
Zedd’s original remixes and EDM beats are synchronized with the movements of the indoor spinning coaster, accompanied by vivid lighting, disco ball sparkles, and LED visuals. The music includes “Break Free (feat. Zedd)”, “Clarity (feat. Foxes)”, and “Beautiful Now (feat. Jon Bellion)”.
In a message to Universal Studios Japan visitors, Zedd said, “Hello everyone in Japan, this is Zedd. I rode the attraction myself today, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. I’ve spent about a year working on this special project, and I truly love how it turned out. I hope everyone enjoys the ride, lets their emotions go, sings freely, and enjoys the music just like at a concert or a club.”
The queue features 25 tracks including a special medley created for the attraction, a movie featuring Zedd, and newly enhanced lighting effects.
The story is set on Club ZEDD, a legendary club floating in outer space. Though entering the club is nearly impossible, Zedd has invited you as a VIP guest. You will board a Space Pod to journey through the universe.
Universal Studios Japan Brand Marketing Department Manager Ken Kakudo said the overlay “was planned to deliver a completely new kind of music experience.”
Even people who feel shy about moving to music can fully immerse themselves and let go without worrying about others on this ride. We believed that a collaboration with Zedd was the perfect fit for the ‘RIDE THE BEAT’ experience within the grand universe of Space Fantasy – The Ride. EDM naturally builds toward a climax and explodes with energy, perfectly matching the movement of the ride. The vast outer space and epic world also pair beautifully with Zedd’s music. We were especially happy that Zedd himself loves Universal Studios Japan, which helped make this collaboration possible. We’ve added many subtle details for long-time fans of Space Fantasy – The Ride, as well as hidden elements that Zedd fans will notice. Whether it’s your first ride or your tenth, we aimed to create an experience full of new discoveries. Please enjoy this one-of-a-kind new music experience with your whole body.

The overlay lasts through Monday, August 17, 2026.
The original soundtrack will be available, including two exclusive remixes from the attraction, a ticket holder, a souvenir ticket, and a souvenir VIP pass sticker. It will be ¥3,080 (tax included).
