'Disneyland Handcrafted' Documentary Will Have Limited Run at AMC Burbank

The Disneyland Handcrafted documentary directed by Leslie Iwerks will have a limited-time theatrical run at the AMC in Burbank before its wide release on streaming.

Attendees at the fan event were treated to a first look at the film, which celebrates the excitement of Disneyland’s creation more than 70 years ago and showcases rarely seen footage and the care that went into building a new concept in family entertainment. Disneyland Handcrafted will play at AMC Burbank Town Center 8 from January 14 through January 20, 2026. Purchase tickets now.

The documentary will be released digitally on Disney+ and the Disney YouTube on January 22, 2026.

The movie tells the “miraculous” story of Disneyland’s construction through archival footage. It premiered at Walt Disney Studios earlier this month.

Iwerks is descended from two Disney Legends: her grandfather Ub Iwerks and father Don Iwerks. She’s directed multiple documentaries related to Disney, including The Imagineering Story, which influenced Disneyland Handcrafted.
