Good Morning America has shared another look inside Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom, including an updated scene that now includes Buzz Lightyear.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

In the short clip Wyatt Winter, Executive Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering stated:
What is new here today is actually the scene that’s right here behind me, and you see our alien friends opening that airlock so we can head out into space and start our battle with Emperor Zurg.

The dimensional green alien figure is a brand new addition to the attraction, along with another friendly face. Winter said. “Thankfully, we won’t have to face Zurg alone. We’re going to see Buzz Lightyear for the first time, join you in that battle.”

Imagineering Expands on New Ride Additions
Walt Disney Imagineering also posted a video showing more additions coming to the ride, including all-new animation from PIXAR and new targets in the tunnel:
During the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade Special on ABC, Disney also shared an inside look at the updated Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, focusing on Buddy, a support-bot whose job it is to prepare all Space Rangers for their mission with target practice.

Buddy has four interactive targets that replace the old Z-targets. Each will interact with the blasters, with each hit triggering lighting effects and more.
We recently got a look at the newly installed targets through the black scrim over the viewing windows above the ride from the PeopleMover.

The attraction has been closed since August for a major overhaul, which includes new vehicles, blasters, and targets. The reimagined ride will open in the spring of 2026.
