Kali River Rapids Drained for Evacuation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Guests were recently evacuated from Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and YouTube channel Parents at the Parks shared a detailed video of the unique experience.

In the case of a Kali River Rapids evacuation, cast members drain the ride enough for guests to walk out without wading through water. Parents at the Parks said in their video, below, that this draining took 15-20 minutes. Cast members then helped them out of their raft and had them wait in an area to the side of the ride track.

Once more guests had been evacuated from their rafts, cast members led them in a line down the ride track. Parents at the Parks said cast members “were all kind and helpful!”

The incident occurred during the final ride of the night on January 7, 2026, and three rafts were stopped at the ride’s drop.

Kali River Rapids went through its annual refurbishment in late 2025. We don’t know why the ride was forced to stop but because it was at the end of the night, Disney had plenty of time to ensure it was running smoothly by the next day. The ride is now operating normally.
