Universal Studios Japan will celebrate five years of Super Nintendo World with a special activity, a Yoshi meet and greet, and an N64 birthday cake.

The celebration will begin on March 18, 2026, and run through January 11, 2027. Here’s the official story of the event:
Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Yoshi are baking a cake together.
Princess Peach asks Toad to fetch some Super Stars from a box for a special touch.
But when he opens it … the Super Stars burst out in every direction!Now things are glowing with invincible, colorful energy, sending everyone’s excitement to a whole new level.

The birthday cake will be in Star Plaza next to the land’s entrance warp pipe, which will also be adorned with Super Star decorations. It will be similar to the cake they sell in Super Nintendo World, but on a grander scale, and it will be themed to Super Mario 64.
Guests can help Mario and friends search for the lost Super Stars throughout the Mushroom Kingdom with the Super Star Adventure March.

Yoshi will appear exclusively for the 5th anniversary, and there will also be light-up merchandise and anniversary-exclusive food.

The original Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan had its grand opening on March 18, 2021. A second Super Nintendo World then opened on February 17, 2023 at Universal Studios Hollywood. The third version opened with Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort on May 22, 2025. A fourth Super Nintendo World is under construction at Universal Studios Singapore.
The Japan version of the land includes the rides Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge (Bowser’s Challenge at other parks) and Yoshi’s Adventure, as well as Key Challenges, which can be completed with a Power-Up Band. The Donkey Kong Country expansion including the Mine-Cart Madness coaster, opened on December 11, 2024.
