Prop Pipes Removed From Gonzo’s Royal Flush in Former Muppets Courtyard

Crew members are removing prop pipes from Gonzo’s Royal Flush at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The building houses restrooms in the former Muppets Courtyard, soon-to-be Monstropolis.

On Wednesday morning, January 28, we saw a pair of crew members in a lift working on this pipe above the main entrance to the restrooms. Other pieces of pipes had already been removed from the facade. The Gonzo’s Royal Flush sign was removed a month ago.

Within a few minutes, the crew members had successfully removed part of the large pipe. For reference, below is what the facade used to look like.

The pipes are part of Monstropolis concept art (below), but were green instead of silver. The window and wall behind the pipes also look different. It’s possible plans have changed and the pipes won’t return, that they needed to be temporarily removed for other changes, or that they will be replaced.
