Long-Term Permit Filed for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Disney has filed another permit for “General Construction” at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom. What makes this permit strange is that it has an extended expiration date.

Most construction permits expire one year from filing. This Notice of Commencement does not expire until April 2, 2027.

The permit contracts Jon Richards Company, which has worked with Disney several times over the years. It was filed by Disney’s Facility Asset Management, which usually handles regular maintenance.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is scheduled to reopen this spring. The permit may indicate that Disney is planning continued maintenance on the ride even after it opens.

The overhauled ride will have new scenes, vehicles, blasters, and interactive targets.
