The Cinderella Castle moat at Magic Kingdom is completely drained to allow crew members to get closer to the castle for repainting. More sections have also been repainted.
Cinderella Castle Moat Draining

Draining began on Wednesday morning, February 4, and continued rapidly for the past few days. The only water left is the small amount that is leftover from the drain leaving dirt and debris washed up on the concrete banks of the moat.

There are two pumps for draining, one on the Tomorrowland side and one on the Liberty Square side. There are dams in the water so the moat doesn’t have to be completely drained.
Now that the water is drained from around the castle, crew members and vehicles will be able to get closer to the sides for repainting.

Speaking of repainting, we noticed a few new spots that have been repainted. There is more white paint on the trim, covering some of previous gold color.

From the Tomorrowland side, there is more gray paint on the back end of this side of the castle.

And from the Liberty Square side of the park, there is more trim that has been repainted.

Disney announced the castle repainting project in the summer of 2025. The icon received its current color scheme in 2020/2021 for the park’s 50th anniversary.
Because to the construction work, Happily Ever After has been modified, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is performing only in the afternoons and without pyrotechnics, and Let the Magic Begin is audio only.
