Painting of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom has moved to some of the icon’s tallest towers. Disney is restoring the castle’s classic colors after it spent five years with a 50th anniversary color scheme.
Cinderella Castle Repainting
When approaching the castle, there are no obvious color differences. Most of the painting so far has been on the back and east side. We did spot some crew members working on the front, however.
They were on the ramparts near the clock. They may have been painting or performing other refurbishment work in this area, but it’s hard to tell.
Around the back of the castle, there are fresh spots of gray paint. The top half of the castle, currently pink, is being repainted light gray. Many trims that were previously gold are now gray.
These stand out against those elements that remain golden. Notice the tower on the right, with half of its gold trim remaining while half has been painted gray.
Further up the castle, there are gray patches on some of the towers. Crews seem to be working in sections — repainting a full balcony or wall at a time.
The second and third tallest tower have gray railings and trims. Walls near the center of the castle are also gray. At least for now, gold remains on decorative elements of the railings.
The second tallest tower has gray right under its blue roof. The royal blue roofing is also expected to be repainted a lighter blue. It appears the tallest tower hasn’t been touched yet.

Painting began on the east side of the castle. There is now a large section of gray in this area, visible from the back and side.
The gray is starting to inch towards the front of the castle. Crews haven’t quite finished the wall in the center of the above photo. There is still pink around the gray trim. Above the wall, there is also some dripping, which we noticed in our last update.
The only paint work visible on the front of the castle are some light gray trims on the east side.

For reference, pictured above is the castle in 2019 with its classic color scheme, the castle in 2021 after it was painted for the 50th anniversary, and concept art for the current repaint.

The moat is drained for construction work. Without water around the castle, crew members will be able to bring construction vehicles into the moat to allow them to reach the low sides and highest walls.
