Crane Arrives for Vertical Monsters Inc. Door Coaster Construction

A crane now towers over Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It will be used for vertical construction of the new Monsters, Inc. door roller-coaster.

We saw the boom crane from the parking lot but it’s also visible inside the park. It’s located where the door coaster show building is under construction. Though foundational work has been underway for months, the crane will be necessary to start lifting in larger elements for both the building’s structure and the coaster itself.

The coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and vertical lift coaster. The model for the coaster was revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024.

We also spotted a few changes to the MuppetVision 3D theater, which will house a new Monsters, Inc. experience. Four new cutouts have appeared in the brick on the front of the building. There’s a square on the far left, a rectangle on the inner left, and a large rectangle and small rectangle on the right. These could possibly be new fake windows. The gray splotches on the wall are where fake windowsills used to be.

Aerial concept art of Disney's Hollywood Studios shows buildings, trees, a central fountain, and guests in Monsters, Inc. Land.

The windows don’t seem to correspond to anything on the concept art, which shows a brand-new marquee on the front of the theater, but plans could have changed from concept to completion.
