A recent update from X user bioreconstruct shows significant progress on the roller coaster in the upocoming Monstropolis area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Aerial View of Monstropolis Construction

An overhead shot of the construction of the new Monstropolis roller coaster reveals numerous utility conduits rising out of the sand for the new attraction building. The sand was placed on top of a concrete floor to stabilize it. Previous aerial shots also showed electrical conduits being buried in the sand.

The gray utility conduits can be seen rising out of the sand at the far right of the sand plot. The building in the background is the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, which is now being used as a Disney Imagineering office building.

A closer look shows crews working on the conduits rising out of the sand, as well as the conduit lines in the sand itself. At the top right, the last concrete will be cast for the stabilizing floor; a grid of pilings can be seen in that sand.

A large pad of concrete was recently cast for the Monstropolis roller coaster, which will be based on the door vault from Monsters, Inc.

More photos taken by bioreconstruct shows the concrete casting and utility conduit work for the attraction. Conduit lines can be seen crisscrossing in the sand.

These aerial shots show the guest-facing side of the Monsters, Inc. roller coaster building. Half of the concrete has been poured.

The user also posted photos of the former Muppets Courtyard being reimagined into Monstropolis. Recently, the first fire safety permit was filed for the redesign of the Mama Melrose restaurant into Harryhausen’s.

‘Monsters, Inc.’ Roller Coaster

The Monsters, Inc. roller coaster currently under construction will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. Guests will embark on a thrilling ride through the Monsters, Inc. door vault as they pursue Mike, Sulley, and Boo. The model for the coaster was revealed at the D23 event in 2024.
