Like the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy cruise ship has new porthole railings. The railings were likely installed in response to an incident last summer when a child fell from one of these portholes on the Disney Dream.
New Railings Installed on Disney Fantasy

Though the incident took place on the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy has an identical layout, and it has now received the same update. The portholes are located on Deck 4.
The brand new railings are further in front of the portholes and, like many railings on the ship, covered by plexiglass.

The portholes themselves remain open but it would be much harder for someone to reach them. The plexiglass also makes it harder for a child to climb the railings.
For reference, below is what the portholes on the Dream looked like when the incident occurred.

In June 2025, a 5-year-old girl fell overboard through a porthole on Deck 4 of the Disney Dream. Her father jumped in the ocean after her and both were rescued with minimal injuries. The child was sitting on the railing in front of the window for a picture because her mother thought the porthole had a glass barrier. The incident was ruled accidental and isolated and the parents did not face neglect charges.
