On a recent visit to Grizzly River Run, we noticed a lot of work occurring for the ride’s ongoing refurbishment. The ride closed in January 2026.
Rock Work Scrim Uncovered at Grizzly River Run
On our visit to Disney’s California Adventure today, at around 10:30 AM PST, we noticed the beige scrim walls that were previously covering the rocky mountain facade at Grizzly River were folded up.
A cast member could be seen working, presumably repainting or resculpting the rock facade.
For reference, this is what the scrim walls used to look like on January 21, 2026:
The beige scrim walls hid much of the rock facade from view, while green walls were installed below. The green walls are still currently lining the walkway.
Eureka Mill Building Scrim Walls
Other refurbishment happening at Grizzly River Run include beige scrim walls surrounding the Eureka Mill Building. These walls remain unchanged since we last reported about them.
Grizzly River Run Ride Refurbishment
The ride itself has been completely drained of water so crews can work on the river. Temporary scaffolding, plywood, and wire cages are visible, suggesting active work is occurring.
A cast member was working with a temporary wood structure that was likely supporting something in place.
Another cast member was spotted working on a mesh tube supported by posts. The tube appears to be the same size as the wood logs next to it that act as barriers on the ride, so some logs may be getting replaced.
A bridge walkway over the river has been partially covered with plastic wrap over the handrails. Below it, clear tarps cover the rocks surrounding the river. Stacks of wood are also visible.
The ride queue entrance continues to be blocked by wood walls with posted signs saying, “Grizzly River Run: Down for park beautification. Please enjoy other attractions.”
There is currently still no reopening date for Grizzly River Run on Disneyland’s website.
