Tokyo Disney Resort Celebrates Japan’s National Cat Day

Tokyo Disney Resort took to Instagram to celebrate Japan’s National Cat Day today, February 22, with an homage to Figaro.

National Cat Day

In the Instagram post, Tokyo Disney Resort asks guests if they knew there were cats at Tokyo Disneyland’s Minnie’s Style Studio. Figaro (Minnie’s pet cat) is seen among some gift boxes, and his white and red footprints can be spotted throughout the space.

Commenters were quick to point out that Figaro is also Geppetto’s cat in Pinocchio. Others chimed in with their favorite Disney cats, including the trio of sassy kittens from The Aristocats.

Disney Japan also posted their own homage for National Cat Day with a Japanese-dubbed version of the scene in the 1970 Aristocats film where Thomas O’Malley meets Duchess and her three kittens – Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse – for the first time. The caption notes that today is also Marie Day.
