Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto has issued a corrected tiki mug following a misprint of the same design in May 2025.

Corrected Trader Sam’s Mug Now Available at the Polynesian Resort

In May of 2025, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort released a new edition of the “Skipper’s Adventure Mug”, which first appeared at Disneyland Resort in August 2024.

The new edition of the mug, made exclusively for Walt Disney World and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, came in a new blue hue and should have featured a corresponding logo and branding for the Grog Grotto.

Upon closer inspection, however, the new release of the mug included one notable misprint: the logo on the bottom said “Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar,” which is distinctly not the correct Trader Sam’s location. The top of the mug’s original box also reflected the same error.

The original Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is unique to Disneyland Resort, while Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is exclusively at Walt Disney World. While similar in concept, both bars have distinctive theming and their own special individual mugs and drinks.

Given the highly collectible and often location-specific nature of Trader Sam’s mugs, Disney agreed that this misprint stood out as an egregious error.

At the time of the mug’s debut in Walt Disney World, Cast Members confirmed the misprint was indeed made in error; however, the mug was available for one day only as a courtesy for excited collectors, since it was initially advertised as being available that day. Cast Members subsequently took contact information for guests to know when the correct mug arrived.

Just under one year later, the corrected mug has arrived at the Polynesian. Guests who purchased mugs with the initial printing error are being given free replacements.

Guests who purchased the original Skipper’s Adventure Mug can visit the BouTiki shop at the Polynesian Village Resort, where they can pick up a replacement mug – now featuring the correct Grog Grotto branding on the bottom.

The mug itself is unchanged from the original release. The ceramic design consists various Adventureland motifs, mostly centered around the Jungle Cruise. The mug surface features a blue ombré coloration.
