Walt Disney Imagineering kicked off Engineers Week (February 22 – 28, 2026) by highlighting a control software engineer who worked on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Engineers Week – Rise of the Resistance

Ryan, Senior Control Software Engineer, explains in the video below, “Everything that you see is just a mechanical system, but we have electrons that bring it to life.”
Control software controls everything in an attraction, from the ride vehicles to how something like an Audio-Animatronic moves. It controls the safety behind the Audio-Animatronics, and it gives maintenance and our operations partners the ability to start up and shut down different effects throughout the attraction. And in order to make that happen, I write code to bring all those systems together.
Rise of the Resistance is where I got my start with Walt Disney Imagineering. I have a background in computer science and I knew that I wanted to do more than regular software development. With control software engineering, I get to do things that I never expected I would be able to do, like work on an attraction as big and cool as Rise of the Resistance.
