Walt Disney World Prepares for More Freezing Weather

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for Central Florida from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24. Walt Disney World prepared once again by covering flowerbeds (and a topiary) with plastic sheets.

On Tuesday morning at EPCOT, we saw white sheets over some flowerbeds. These help keep the plants warm. We saw similar prep at the parks in late January. Unfortunately, Disney couldn’t cover every plant and trees at the EPCOT entrance were damaged.

EPCOT is getting ready for the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival — not the ideal festival for such cold weather. The colorful Festival Blooms gardens along the edge of the lagoon are covered by white sheets.

Among the floral displays is a topiary of Goofy blowing on a dandelion. He’s also covered by a white sheet, ensuring he stays safe.

The Canada flag topiary display is also covered by white sheets.

The 2026 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is from March 4 to June 1. Check out the Outdoor Kitchen menus, list of topiaries and gardens, and merchandise preview.

Though the Tuesday morning freeze warning is over, Central Florida will still experience cold weather for the next few days. Blizzard Beach water park is closed today.
