EPCOT Trees Left Damaged After Cold Snap

After the significant cold snap in Orlando recently, plant life was impacted by the uncommon weather. We are still seeing the ramifications of that dramatic temperature drop at EPCOT.

As you can see above, the palm trees that flank the front of Spaceship Earth have lost all of their fronds in the weeks following the cold snap. The trees are barely visible in the image, resembling bare flag poles.

As you can see above, the palm trees that flank the front of Spaceship Earth have lost all of their fronds in the weeks following the cold snap. The trees are barely visible in the image, resembling bare flag poles. We believe the trees are foxtail palm trees.

If they are, indeed, foxtail palm trees, these types of palms can come back after a cold snap, though recovery can be slow and take months. However, it is possible these young trees won’t come back from the sudden exposure to the freeze.

In the photo above, you can see the trees as they were in August 2025.

Disney has installed “Jack Frost” signage around the parks, letting guests know that they are working to give the plants some TLC after the cold weather.
