Scott, who was an original cast member in the show, will play his final performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre on May 3. His replacement will be announced later.

Scott has performed in Aladdin nearly 4,000 times. He has been part of the show since its 2013 pre-Broadway run in Toronto. He opened the show on Broadway in March 2014 as the Genie stand-by, with James Monroe Iglehart originated the role.

Scott then originated the role of Genie for the 2016 Australian production, which earned him the Helpmann Award. He went on to perform as the Genie on the West End and in the North American tour before taking over the role on Broadway in 2019.

“Playing The Genie on Broadway has been the creative journey of a lifetime—one that pushed me, shaped me, and reminded me every night why I fell in love with the stage,” said Scott in a statement (via Playbill). “I’m deeply aware that opportunities like this haven’t always been accessible to actors who look like me, and it’s not lost on me how rare it is for an actor of color to lead a Broadway show for this long. This experience has changed me forever, and I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me. I’m endlessly grateful to my Disney on Broadway family for trusting me, uplifting me and making this Genie journey unforgettable.”

Scott’s other Broadway credits include the Minstrel in Something Rotten!, Dr. Gostwana in The Book of Mormon, a swing for Tarzan, The Producer in Gutenberg! The Musical!, and ensemble/understudy roles in Jersey Boys, Hair, and Elf.

He has performed as part of the Disney on Broadway Concert Series at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts multiple times.

He appears as Nurse Francois Dubois in the Scrubs revival on ABC.
