At the 2026 Annual Shareholders Meeting, new CEO Josh D’Amaro answered a question regarding how the company is leveraging AI to strengthen its position in the industry.
Disney and AI

D’Amaro started off by saying it’s not a complete discussion these days if AI isn’t brought up. He goes on to state that technology has always played an important role in Disney’s history, and because of this they’ve been at the forefront of innovation for more than 100 years.
This is a company of creators, of innovators, and, of course, we understand that our willingness and passion, in terms of embracing new technologies, it’s been completely key to our success.

D’Amaro continues by saying the company is using AI and machine learning in a variety of ways across the company in order to enable creators and creativity. The goal is to develop and improve products and experiences to drive productivity and efficiency in everything the company does.
However, he goes on to say that they are approaching this thoughtfully:
But of course, you know, not surprisingly, we’re approaching this very thoughtfully. At Disney, creativity is always led by people that will always be the case. Our goal with AI is to empower human creativity and not replace it. We want to give artists and filmmakers and designers better tools so that they can focus on what they do best.
A recent episode of We Call It Imagineering showcases how Imagineers use artificial intelligence (AI) to create advanced robots, bringing various characters to life. And, Dana Walden’s priorities in her new position as President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company will reportedly include incorporating AI into movie production.
