Instagram user thecalibae spotted a test run of the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift rollercoaster on a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood.

In the reel, we get a pretty comprehensive look at a full run of the drifting coaster from start to finish (of the exterior portion, that is). Spoilers ahead for any reader who wants to avoid details on the ride experience.

By the time we see the coaster’s train emerge, the ride vehicles turn into a small incline before diving into what appears to be the ride’s first major descent. The train then rolls into a steep, heavily banked turn, ultimately sweeping through an inversion as the ride vehicles simultaneously spin, or “drift” in a somewhat frenzied fashion. The train rolls out of this inversion before leveling out along a short brake run portion of track.

From here, the train descends down three short dips while the ride vehicles spin a full 180 degrees, leaving riders reversed as they ascend the next major lift along the track. As the train crests the hill, the vehicles simultaneously spin back to a forward-orientation, leveling out and accelerating through another sequence of lifts and s-curves with additional drifting maneuvers as riders move through the next inversion.

The inversion closes out in another dive before banking into a turn along the ride’s glass sound barrier, all as drifting motions continue. As the ride approaches its conclusion, the train levels out and hit their final brake run after one last drifting turn.

Judging by the reel, the full ride experience is no less than one minute and ten seconds in duration – mostly likely longer if we speculate and assume an additional ten to twenty seconds from the unseen portion prior to the start of this reel.
