Aerial photographer bioreconstruct has dropped a new batch of shots showing the progress of the Monsters, Inc. door coaster in the upcoming Monstropolis land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
‘Monsters, Inc.’ Coaster Construction Progress

The coaster’s show building is currently being constructed in the middle of the Cast Member parking lot in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is why the multi-layered concrete pad and towering crane are surrounded by cars.

A closer look at the foundation shows areas in different stages of concrete preparation, including being buried in sand (upper left), rebar being placed for a new layer (lower right), and conduits being threaded through rebar (lower left).

The rebar being placed in this area includes several sunken spots with angled sides, whose function is currently unknown.
In this quadrant, workers are threading conduit for another layer of concrete around structural support bolts.
This slab is currently used for materials staging, although another sunken area is noticeable.
‘Monsters, Inc.’ Door Vault Coaster

Based on the door vault scene from the first film, the Monsters, Inc. coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and vertical lift coaster. It will be located at the end of Monstropolis, which is currently being constructed on the site of the former Muppets Courtyard.

The model for the coaster, including the track layout, was revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024.
