Atiya Henry moves to Disney from Netflix

Longtime Netflix production executive Atiya Henry has joined Disney Branded Television as Executive Vice President of Production. In her new role under Disney’s Television branch, Henry will serve as a key member of President Ayo Davis’ senior leadership team.

The role was previously occupied by Susette Hsiung, who retired at the end of 2025, closing out her 28-year career with The Walt Disney Company.

Hsiung oversaw production for a wide range of live-action and animated programming across Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Jr., Radio Disney, and Disney+, managing more than 1,000 hours of content spanning series, movies, specials, short-form projects, and promotional material. She supervised production on major franchises and titles such as Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible, High School Musical, Descendants, Camp Rock, Raven’s Home, Big City Greens, and much more.

Hsiung has also been a strong advocate for women and minorities in entertainment, supporting mentorship, workplace initiatives, and employee resource groups at Walt Disney Television, while serving externally with Girls, Inc.

In her new role, Henry will oversee all aspects of production for Disney Branded Television’s portfolio of animated and live-action programming for Disney+, Disney Jr. and Disney Channel.

Speaking on her entry into The Walt Disney Company, Henry commented:

“Disney has played an important role in shaping many of the most iconic stories for kids and families around the world, and it’s truly an honor to join a team that is defining the space for future generations … I’m excited to partner with Ayo, Carol, and the talented Disney Branded Television team to help deliver stories that audiences will grow up with and carry with them for years to come.”

Atiya Henry’s recent career has been centered on scripted series production at Netflix, where she spent about seven years in the drama division, rising from manager to director of physical production and working on projects including Firefly Lane, Sweet Magnolias, and Raising Dion. Before Netflix, she held senior production roles at Annapurna Pictures and BET Networks/Viacom, building experience across television production strategy and execution.
