A tiny popcorn bucket managed a huge achievement yesterday in the lobby of Universal Hollywood’s AMC Theatre.
Bowser’s Cauldron: World’s Smallest Popcorn Bucket

A tiny event with world-scale implications quietly occurred yesterday at the Universal Cinema AMC in CityWalk Hollywood.
A representative from Guinness World Records – the organization behind the British reference books that carefully track and report world records of human achievements and natural extremes – was center stage for this event in the AMC lobby.
In attendance: a selection of staff from the Zinc Group – a business development agency behind many limited edition popcorn buckets and other novelty promotional items – and a handful of bloggers, influencers, and content creators within the Universal entertainment sphere, including WDWNT’s resident Universal Hollywood and Disneyland reporter.

As originally planned, the group was gathered to witness the official measurement and certification of a new world record, officiated on-site by Guinness: the world’s smallest popcorn bucket.
How small? Well, purely as a descriptor, “popcorn bucket” may not be the most accurate term in this case. Popcorn “cup” may be more appropriate. Or perhaps popcorn “thimble” at 2.6 inches. It is able to hold between 5 and 11 kernels of popcorn.

Regardless of what you call it, the “bucket” making the noble attempt was Bowser’s Cauldron, a tiny design available as a promotional item through AMC and Cinemark theaters for the upcoming release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The cauldron comes attached to an acrylic print graphic of Bowser as he appears in the recent Super Mario films. More specifically, this Bowser appears to be a 1:1 scale representation of Bowser as he ended up at the conclusion of the first film, in a dramatically shrunken form. The two items are chained together with a joint keychain clip. As a popcorn receptacle, the cauldron itself can carry no more than a small handful of popcorn.
