Monstropolis Retheming Update

Since our last update, Gonzo’s Royal Flush restroom area is covered in more tarps and surrounded by more scaffolding. The scaffolding around the rooftop water tower is new, suggesting that it may be rethemed soon. The concept art of this area shows red buildings with green roofs, with the rooftop water tower matching the aesthetic.

Over by the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, the buildings have new clear sheets covering them. The windows are blocked off, and the surrounding walls appear to be painted in different colors than they were before. The rooftop water towers have also been removed, but the red “Toys” signs are still up. The concept art of this area shows Mama Melrose’s being reimagined into Harryhausen’s, a restaurant Mike and Sulley visit in Monsters, Inc.

Over by the entrance to the Muppet*Vision 3D theater, scaffolding now surrounds the entrance, along with several piles of construction material. The faces on the clock tower also appear to be removed. Walls were recently demolished in the Grand Avenue, and what will likely be the future Glob Theater is currently a blank slate of gray exterior walls.

The concept art of this area shows red brick buildings with green accents. The clock tower faces look like eyes, and the marquee sign says, “The Glob,” a play on Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
