Behind the Scenes Look at Special Effects in Disney’s Grand Floridian Curio Cabinet

Last year, a new cabinet of trinkets inspired by classic Disney stories was added to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort as part of its lobby reimagining. A behind-the-scenes video from Walt Disney Imagineering highlights a new effect added to the cabinet.

Grand Floridian Curio Cabinet

A curved glass cabinet shows Disney collectibles, its lighting recalling the ambiance of updated park lobbies around the resorts.

Visual media designer Shay talks about turning still images into moving scenes. For the cabinet, he created an image of a Disney Cruise Line ship floating in the ocean. Tinker Bell appears and creates fireworks above the ship. And it all takes place inside a glass bottle.

The bottle is in a treasure chest that replaces a box previously in the cabinet. See the effect in action in the video below.

The curio cabinet is located near the Disney Vacation Club desk at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
