Following a teaser for new Toy Story characters coming to Fortnite earlier this week, Disney dropped an official announcement trailer for Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg, now available for purchase in the game’s item shop.

Similar to other character releases in Fortnite, the Toy Story hero and villain are released alongside a range of cosmetics and emotes complementing the core character style, including Buzz’s signature glider wings and Zurg’s threatening blaster pack.

Both characters are currently featured in the Item Shop for V-Bucks, the in-game currency, as individual offers and together in a discounted bundle.

Buzz is available as an individual outfit for 1,600 V-Bucks and includes the Lightyear Wings glider, while Emperor Zurg is available for 1,500 V-Bucks and includes the Zurg Blaster Pack back bling; both are also included in the Buzz Lightyear & Emperor Zurg Bundle, listed at 3,400 V-Bucks.

The new character releases follow other Toy Story-themed items in-game, including Little Green Men alien sidekicks and a Pizza Planet car body. The releases appear to be timed deliberately to promote Toy Story 5, releasing on June 19. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Woody may also appear as part of this promotion in Fortnite in the coming weeks.

Disney and Epic Games significantly expanded their relationship in February 2024, when Disney announced a $1.5 billion equity investment in Epic and plans to help expand offerings in Epic’s Fortnite. Other recent Disney additions to Fortnite include Tsum Tsum blings and Hoppers. Disney also teased a Hercules crossover.

Last month, the partnership between the two companies underwent a quiet shift as Disney Games, formerly under the Disney Parks and Experiences umbrella, transitioned to Disney Entertainment.
