Soon after our morning report on the green water, crews arrived to assess the situation. It seems the green was from spilled tracer dye, which is used for testing leaks in pipes and storm drain systems. These highly concentrated dyes are safe in small amounts but appear extremely vivid in water.

We asked a crew member what was going on and he said they were trying to figure that out, indicating there wasn’t supposed to be this much tracer dye released into the moat.

Eventually, they got a pump set up and began removing the dyed water. A blue tube currently runs from a green puddle up the side of a hill to the hidden pump.

The green water is on the Liberty Square side of Cinderella Castle. The castle is currently being repainted and the moat was drained earlier this year. Paint work isn’t done so the moat isn’t being refilled yet.

By noon, there was less green water in the moat although still plenty to be removed.
