Despite recent reports that Disney has restored the “ladies and gentlemen” announcement to the Walt Disney World Monorail, the announcement was never actually fully removed.
“Ladies and Gentlemen” on Walt Disney World Monorail

It’s true that in the past few years, Disney has removed some gendered language from attractions, entertainment, and more. Most prominently, they removed the “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” greeting that previously played ahead of Magic Kingdom fireworks in 2021. In 2022, Walt Disney World cast members began addressing guests as “friend” more often.
“Ladies and gentlemen” was apparently removed from some sections of the Monorail announcement — but not all. For example, guests still heard “ladies and gentlemen” when approaching the Transportation and Ticket Center on the Resort Monorail. Many videos can be found on YouTube over the last several years, verifying how “ladies and gentlemen” has always been present at various points along the Resort Monorail and Express Monorail routes.
When the Express Monorail began testing reversed direction back in November, the “ladies and gentlemen” announcement was also heard. In the afternoon, the Express Monorail now moves in a clockwise loop to create a faster journey to the TTC, playing different announcements than what guests would usually hear. It seems this change in the Monorail’s operation and different audio being played than what guests usually hear on Express has led to the current confusion.
Hear a snippet of the current audio below.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching our station at the entrance to Main Street, U.S.A. — gateway to the six themes lands of the Magic Kingdom. Smoking is not permitted at the Magic Kingdom, except in designated area outside the park entrance. If you are standing, please hold on to the handrails and stay clear of the doors until the monorail stops completely and the doors open. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Magic Kingdom monorail station.”
