In Disney’s latest update about the new Tropical Americas area being added to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we learned more information about the Encanto ride.
Tropical Americas Encanto Ride
Disney shared the following updated description regarding the new Encanto ride:
“Guests will be invited to celebrate Antonio’s new gift: the ability to talk to animals. And along the way, we’ll learn that no matter what our special gifts or abilities are, we’re all part of the “familia” of all living things.”
The attraction’s façade will be inspired by the Casita from the film. Guests will arrive on the day Antonio receives his magical gift. Guests will journey through the house in vehicles inspired by furniture Casita has brought to life.
To ensure the authenticity of the new Tropical Americas land, Disney Imagineering visited the same areas in Colombia that the original Encanto filmmakers were inspired by. First-hand experiences were gathered to ensure Pueblo Esperanza feels like a real, lived-in town, from the “colors and materials of town plazas to hues of haciendas in varying light to the way buildings respond to the climate and terrain.”
Tropical Americas
The transformation of Dinoland, U.S.A., into Tropical Americas is well underway at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Set to open in 2027, the new land will consist of the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza, featuring a new carousel and an “Encanto” ride, while DINOSAUR is being reimagined as an Indiana Jones ride. There will also be a new playground added to the land.
DinoLand construction first began in early 2025 with the closure of the Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures buildings. DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus closed permanently in February 2026, the last phase. All will be repurposed for the new Tropical Americas land.
