Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle shared photos from testing of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom, which reopens next month
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Testing

Vahle’s photos offer our first look inside the attraction after an over year-long closure, although don’t reveal much. The new trains are similar to the old ones but with refreshed color schemes. The ride’s entire track was also replaced but is expected to be the same layout as the old.

Rockwork was torn down, reconstructed, and repainted throughout the attraction. Inside will be an updated opening scene with a transformation of the Rainbow Caverns. There will be refreshed Audio-Animatronics, new gold props, and more.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens on May 3 with a lowered height requirement.
