The Mandalorian and Grogu director will be leading the banner event at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas later this month.
Expect New Details About The Mandalorian & Grogu on April 16

Reporting earlier today from Deadline confirmed that Jon Favreau – acclaimed actor, director and Disney Legend – will be hosting this year’s Creative Community Luncheon at CinemaCon.
CinemaCon is an annual convention for the theater industry, which also serves as the official convention of Cinema United, the largest trade organization of theater owners. Held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the event functions as a major gathering point for theater owners, distributors, studio executives, filmmakers, and affiliated vendors.
The CinemaCon Creative Community Luncheon is one of the convention’s filmmaker-focused events, designed to connect the creative side of filmmaking with the theatrical exhibition business. In previous years, the event has featured cinema talent such as Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Edgar Wright, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elizabeth Banks, Jerry Bruckheimer, Patty Jenkins, and Jon M. Chu.
This year’s luncheon has been scheduled for April 16 in the Octavius Ballroom at Caesars Palace, with Jon Favreau appearing in conversation with journalist Matt Belloni to discuss Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Jon Favreau is a veteran American filmmaker, writer, producer, and actor whose Disney-related work spans Marvel, live-action Disney remakes, and Star Wars. Within the Star Wars universe, he is best known for creating The Mandalorian, and he has remained a key creative figure behind Lucasfilm’s live-action productions since then.
The series has been met with critical acclaim and landmark streaming metrics over the course of three seasons and crossover appearances in other Star Wars productions. The Mandalorian‘s next installment will take the story to the big screen in the form of The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to release on May 22, 2026.
