Following its Monday premiere, Maul – Shadow Lord currently has the highest Rotten Tomatoes critics score of any Star Wars project ever.
Maul – Shadow Lord Rating

As of writing, the show’s Tomatometer is at 100%. The audience score (Popcornmeter) is at 96%.
The score could drop as more reviews roll in but this currently ranks Maul higher than Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Visions, which both have 98% scores. Those animated shows are followed by Andor with a 96% and the original Star Wars film, Episode IV – A New Hope, at 94%.
The first two episodes of Maul – Shadow Lord were released on Disney+ on April 6. The 10-episode season will continue to release through Star Wars Day, May the 4th. It has been renewed for season 2.
Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni said the series honors George Lucas’ original plans for the character of Maul, who was introduced in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Though seemingly killed at the end of that film, Maul didn’t go down easy and has reappeared in multiple animated Star Wars shows as well as the live-action Solo.
