Ohio High School Marching Band Instruments Stolen Right Before Disney World Performance

After four years of fundraising for a dream performance at Walt Disney World, the Ashland High School Marching Band discovered that their instruments were stolen from their locked trailer at the I-Drive hotel they were staying at.

Marching band members from Ashland High School in Ashland, Ohio woke up Sunday morning, March 29 to find instruments missing after their band trailer was broken into.

The theft stripped the band of several instruments needed for their Disney World performance – thousands of dollars of clarinets, trumpets, trombones, and saxophones were all reported stolen. However, it wasn’t just about the instruments themselves, as many were personal gifts.

“They are handed down to them from family members; they’re gifts,” band mom Brigitte Klotzek told FOX 35. “They have a lot of memories with them. So it’s a little bit more than just an instrument for a lot of the kids.”

One student’s instrument was reportedly a gift from the student’s father shortly before he passed away. “This is something that cannot be really replaced,” Klotzek said.

Despite the loss, the band was able to rent the equipment needed to fulfill their dream of participating in the Disney World performance and marching down Main Street, U.S.A.
