The new Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting closer to new theming as construction continues.
Tropical Americas Construction

Cranes were moving on Thursday morning, April 23, lowering materials to the Encanto ride building. To the left is the ride’s entrance, now with a peaked roof structure.

Crew members were working on that structure and nearby roofing during our visit. A smaller peaked framework is also visible to the right of the larger one. Casita will go in this area but guests will enter through a side building.

Construction resumed on the former Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures in recent weeks. After finally removing a sign and old billboard supports, crews have removed the edges of a roof overhang. Some walls were stripped earlier and are currently covered by tarps.

Next to Dinosaur Treasures is a shed that has been completely stripped of exterior paneling. It’s now covered in TYPAR wrap, a type of weather-resistant cover.

It appears most, if not all, of the canopy supports for the new carousel are in place. Crew members were working on the bases of the supports on Thursday.

A bit unrelated, but we did spot this semi truck hauling materials in the opposite direction as we were leaving the park. Tropical Americas is the only major project taking place right now in Animal Kingdom, so these materials are likely for the land.
Tropical Americas is expected to open in 2027. Are you excited about the new land? Let us know on social media.
