After clearing the land and paving a new road over the last month, at the site of the future Coco-inspired attraction coming to Disney California Adventure, construction looks ready to take a big step forward as work vehicles and materials now fill the area.

In our last set of photos, we pointed out the addition of a freshly-paved roadway winding through the construction site behind Pixar Pier. We can now see a couple of dozen construction vehicles and piles of materials staged for the next step in the area’s development process.

Here is the comparison from May 18, when the new road had been newly installed, to now, where all of the new activity can be seen across the entire site.

The road now has a pass-through and a crosswalk with a traffic control person in place to direct through-traffic, construction vehicles, and pedestrians. Just behind the flagger is a large mound of twisted metal that has been pushed into a pile by the neighboring bobcat. On the foreground side of the road is a pile of gray conduit being staged and pallets of what is very likely electrical hardware.

A crane, 3 excavators, a pair of boom lifts, work trailers, and many more vehicles are all now in position to begin construction.

Along Disneyland Drive, orange construction barriers continue to line the edge of the roadway while recently-planted shrubs can be seen along portions of the fence line near the street.

Disney has revealed very few details about the upcoming attraction. Guests will follow Miguel into the Land of the Dead alongside music from the film and Audio-Animatronic characters inspired by Coco.

An animated scene with neon-lit buildings and fireworks showing a lively street performance with musicians and dancers, themed around the Day of the Dead. An audience watches from a boat.

The only officially released concept art suggests the attraction will be a boat ride. It will become part of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure.

As Disney California Adventure continues work on the future Coco attraction, Disneyland Resort is also moving forward with plans for a new Avatar-inspired land at the park. Disney recently confirmed that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will remain open into 2027 and that the decision will not delay construction on the upcoming Pandora – World of Avatar area.
