Construction continues to ramp up on the future Coco-inspired attraction coming to Disney California Adventure, including a newly paved roadway visible from Pixar Place Hotel.
Coco Construction Site
When we last checked on the project, the area had already been demolished and cleared, with green scrim installed around the perimeter and rubble from the former walkway still visible throughout portions of the site.

One of the most noticeable changes is the addition of a freshly-paved roadway winding through the construction site behind Pixar Pier. The new asphalt path curves around backstage infrastructure and may serve as a future backstage access road or construction route as work on the attraction continues.
The newly paved roadway is accompanied by additional site preparation work throughout the construction zone. Large sections of the area remain fully cleared and leveled, while construction crews continue moving dirt and staging materials behind Pixar Pier.
Several construction vehicles and pieces of equipment can still be spotted throughout the site, including excavators, lifts, loaders, utility trucks, and other heavy machinery positioned near backstage buildings adjacent to Incredicoaster.
Along Disneyland Drive, orange construction barriers continue to line the edge of the roadway while recently-planted shrubs can be seen along portions of the fence line near the street.
Disney has revealed very few details about the upcoming attraction. Guests will follow Miguel into the Land of the Dead alongside music from the film and Audio-Animatronic characters inspired by Coco.
The only officially released concept art suggests the attraction will be a boat ride. It will become part of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure.
As Disney California Adventure continues work on the future Coco attraction, Disneyland Resort is also moving forward with plans for a new Avatar-inspired land at the park. Disney recently confirmed that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will remain open into 2027 and that the decision will not delay construction on the upcoming Pandora – World of Avatar area.
